Radovan Gacic follows in the footsteps of Michael Warm as head coach of the men’s Austrian national team. The Austrian Volleyball Federation (ÖVV) chose him out of as many as 30 applicants for the job. The 45-year-old Gacic has an extensive experience at the highest level, including coaching the Romanian teams of Remat Zalau and Tomis Constanta and Slovenia’s Nova KBM Branik Maribor in the elite CEV Champions League.
The highlight of this international season is the qualification for the EuroVolley 2021, which will take place in late August/ early September where Austria will be playing Bulgaria and Israel.

“I am really looking forward to my new job. Mastering the qualification for the EuroVolley 2021 will be a great challenge for all of us,” Gacic said, “for me and the whole team as well as for all players. We know what a great job my predecessor did. It is our duty to continue this and to reach the next level. Our goal is not only to make it to the next European Championship, we also want to play a bigger role in world volleyball in the future, compete with the best teams and of course achieve positive results against them. Let’s have a great summer together!”
