Békéscsaba took off at the start of the first set, but Prometey quickly turned it around, so Gábor Tóth, head coach of Békéscsaba had to call a timeout. The players reacted well, they came back and started to grow their lead, which they kept until the end of the set. (25:17)
Early in the second, Prometey built a four point advantage, but Békéscsaba reduced it. The teams were going back and forth during almost the whole set, but later Prometey took a 23:20 lead. Békéscsaba equalized though and saved a set point, but so did Prometey. However, an out by the visitors at 27:26 helped Békéscsaba to secure the second set. (28:26).
The beginning of the third set brought a similar fight and tight game, but after 7:7, Békéscsaba scored many consecutive points. Ivan Petkov called two timeouts in a short period of time, but couldn’t stop the home team’s momentum. The difference was growing steadily and Békéscsaba eventually won the final set by 10 points. (25:15)
Gábor Tóth: The team showed how hard they worked during this week and we showed our gratitude to our fans by playing aggressively.
Ivan Petkov: I would like to congratulate the home team, they played very well. In the first set we had problems with the reception and we couldn’t organize our attack. In the second set, we had chances to close it but we weren’t ready. We started the preparation 12 days ago and we have some new girls and the team isn’t constructed well inside. In the third set we made mistakes again on the attack and reception. We are a young team and waiting for other players so it was a good experience for us.
