In the women’s MEVZA League, VB NÖ SOKOL/POST gave OK Calcit KAMNIK a thrilling fight on Saturday afternoon, but finally the hosts had to accept a 2-3 (19-25, 21-25, 25-18, 26-24, 14-16) loss at the hands of Slovenia’s reigning national champions. As a result, OK Calcit KAMNIK remain unbeaten and they are back on the top of the table now one point ahead of Vasas Óbuda BUDAPEST.
In the second women’s match on Saturday, OK Marina KASTELA secured their first MEVZA League win this season, celebrating a 3-1 (31-29, 25-14, 21-25, 25-20) victory over Nova KBM Branik MARIBOR on home soil. While the Slovenian team has to cope with a disappointing setback in the battle for a Final Four spot, OK Marina KASTELA moved up to fifth place in the current standing.

In the men’s competition, OK Calcit KAMNIK cruised to a very convincing 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-19) home win against underdogs UVC Holding GRAZ. Already on Friday, they gave no chance to VKP BRATISLAVA, emerging victorious with 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-23). Therefore, OK Calcit KAMNIK is now sitting in third place in the current standing on 19 points behind the unbeaten defending champions ACH Volley Ljubljana and Slovenia’s reigning national champions OK Merkur MARIBOR.
“It is true that yesterday’s and tonight’s opponent on paper were a bit easier to play, but we had to be very concretely to get to that results. I am really happy with my players’ attitude. Whoever got the chance also took advantage of it. The reception was above average on Saturday, we were at 70 percent in attack, which is a great number, we made eight more blocks and thirteen aces,” OK Calcit KAMNIK’s head coach Matija Pleško was very satisfied with his team’s performance.
