Three fixtures are due to take place this coming weekend in the women’s MEVZA League. Rookies GEN-I Volley Nova Gorica are going to make their debut in the competition against their Slovenian rivals Calcit Volley Kamnik on Saturday. This past weekend, Calcit Volley celebrated a perfect start to this year’s edition, rushing to a straight-sets derby win over Nova KBM Branik Maribor at home ground. Slovenia’s national champions will face Mladost Zagreb away from home on Sunday, while the competition newcomers OK Kastela and UOK Banjaluka Volley are gearing up for their clash at Gradska hall on Saturday. Both the Croatia side and the Bosnian team are aiming for the first victory after losing their opening matches.
“Although I have been playing in Nova Gorica for four years, I do not know their current team very well. No matter what, we will still have to enter the game without any underestimation and fight as a team for every point. Only together we can achieve what we all want. We need to approach each match with the same attitude, because every point means a lot to us, and that is what we are building on,” says Calcit Volley setter Zala Zbicajnik.
“After four years I have changed the environment. I had anticipated that this shift would take some time to make my daily routine more settled, but I quickly get accustomed to more training, driving, time management, and this kind of things. I am pleased that both the team and the staff immediately took me as their own, which also allows me to feel relaxed and accepted,” the former Slovenian junior national team player added.
