KAMNIK – Calcit Volley defeated Mladost Ribola from Kaštela 3:0 at home in the last match of the MEVZA League tournament.
In the opening set, two teams were very tied until the home team reach a three-point advantage 9-6. However, the joy did not last long because Kaštela equalled the result again. The same scenario happened one more time and then Jure Okrogli? took care of another advantage with three points. Before entering the end of the set, Kamnik reached the lead with 19-15 and that margin Calcit Volley didn’t allow to let go. They won the set with 6 point difference.
In the second set, Ribola kept pace with Kamnik until the result 10-9. With four consecutive points, Matija Pleško’s squad ran away from their opponents to 5 points difference. They maintained the advantage without problems until to end of the set. Calcit Volley started the third set very well. With five consecutive points, home team was the first to get a slightly bigger advantage 12-7. The final result in the third set was identical to the first ones. 25-19.
Team Ribola of Kaštela was defeated both times in the first two matches of the Kamnik tournament. The only set they managed to take was in the opening match against Spartak Myjava. Clacit Volley has less to worry about because they entered the MEVZA League with all three wins.
Matija Pleško, head coach of Calcit Volley was satisfied with the game: “In the first set, we made perhaps a bit too many unreasonable serves. Otherwise, I’m satisfied with the game, the opponent was easier on paper, but sometimes such matches are the most difficult. Kaštela is a well-led team that can also play good volleyball if you let them.”
Igor Ran?i?, head coach of Mladost Ribola think that MEVZA is great training for domestic competition: “We came to Kamnik with a very young team. The Mevza tournaments are very useful for the team to gain experience, and our main goal is to win the domestic championship. Calcit also proved that they were stronger and I wish them to win the Slovenian championship in the rest of the season, and we have a similar desire in our championship.”
