KAMNIK – In their second match of the first tournament of the Mevza League, Calcit Volley defeated Spartak Myjava 3-0 at home.
The home players entered the match against the Slovaks, who won only four times in 16 games last year. With Nik Mujanovi?’s ace, the home team took an 8-3 lead, others took care of the advantage of seven points better play in the block and in the offence, Calcit Volley maintained the advantage until the end without any major problems. The set ended with a foul of the visitors and the result was 25-18.
Calcit also entered the second set better, leading 7-3, but then they lost their composure a bit, which the Slovaks took advantage of and came close to two points behind. Spartak was still behind by two points but after Jure Okrogli?’s, block it was already 20-15 for Calcit Volley. After 3 times both teams got point, the last two points were scored after mistakes by the opponent.
At the beginning of the third set, after a mistake by Kamnik, Myjava took the first lead of the set but their joy did not last long. Calcit Volley took the lead and after two consecutive spikes, it was 10-7. Although the Slovaks got closer, the home team escaped with five consecutive points. In the home team, young Miha Okorn also got a chance, and Okrogli? ended it with his third block of the match.
Matija Pleško, head coach of Calcit Volley was satisfied with the game.
„We beat the opponent in the way we wanted to. I’m glad that I was able to make a quick substitution because Dino Vinkovi? started the match, but tomorrow we have a new one. The team from Kaštela is a similar opponent, but we will have to maintain a similar approach. If we are successful in this, we can hope for a similar match.”
Tomorrow at 5:30 p.m., the team from Kamnik will play against the Croatian team Mladost Ribola from Kaštela and at 3 p.m. SK Zadruga Aich/Dob and Spartak Myjava will compete.
