KAMNIK – Calcit Volley defeated SK Zadruga Aich/Dob 3:2 (-21, 19, 16, -19, 10) in the first match of the first round of the MEVZA League tournament in the Kamnik sports hall.
Less than a week after the second leg of the first round of the CEV Cup, Calcit Volley and SK Zadruga Aich/Dob met again, this time in the MEVZA league, which this season will be held according to the tournament system. So far, Calcit Volley of Kamnik, Slovenia won both matches.
The first set was very even but SK Zadruga Aich/Dob reached a four-point lead (24-20). They took a 0-1 lead in sets after Calcit Volley made mistake serving.
In the second set, Calcit Volley reduced the number of errors, they were more dangerous on the serve, more precise in the attack. The hosts won the second set with 25:19.
The start of the third set belonged to the home team, and again it was Mujanovi? who caused problems for the visiting receivers with his serves. This set was won by the hosts with 25:16.
The Kamnik’s team opened the fourth set well, too, in which they escaped by three points (6-3) on Mujanovi?’s attack. Nonetheless, SK Zadruga Aich/Dob with Arwin Kopschar’s two consecutive aces set up a turnaround for their lead with 8-9. With a time-out, Matija Pleško was the one to react this time, but Kopschar scored another ace, and then also Alpar Szabo was successful spiking. Calcit Volley was in even greater trouble after the new ace of the guests, this time by Johannes Kratz, and a deficit of five points (11-16). With bad serve, as many as three in a row ended up in the net, and some other mistakes, the home team has never approached for less than four points. SK Zadruga Aic/Dob tied the result in sets with the third set ball.
In the deciding set the hosts took the early lead with 6:1. The advantage of five points was maintained even when they switched sides. Immediately after the change of sides, the guests got three points behind, but that was more or less all from their side, because after Vinkovi?’s point it was already 13-7 for Calcit Volley. Mujanovi? ensured the victory for the home team.
“In the fourth set, the Austrians, like in the first, pressed with their serve, so we then had worse solutions in the attack. Once again it was shown that Dob has a very unfavorable team that rotates a lot and sometimes they manage to change the rhythm of the game with this rotation of players, especially on reception, and they win. Today we played well on the serve, maybe a little worse in the block, especially on Aspiotis, and that was then reflected in the result. We wanted to start Mevza with a win”, we achieved that, but it’s true that we conceded a point to the opponent. However, I saw a lot of positive things, one of which is the performance shown by Vinkovi?, who replaced the slightly injured Klobu?ar”, said Matija Pleško, head coach of Calcit Volley.
“It’s not easy to play against a team you’re playing against for the third time in less than two weeks. You can see that we know each other well, that we’ve prepared well for each other. We fluctuated a bit too much in the game, especially in the beginning of the sets, and once the team of Kamnik got four or five points ahead, it was difficult to catch them. This especially applies to the fifth set, which is played only up to the 15th point”, said Zoran Keda?i?, head coach of SK ZAdruga Aich/Dob.
