The Volleyball Federation of Slovenia (OZS) organised from December 20 to 22 the Final Four tournament of the Slovenian Cup – with the event held in the country’s capital, Ljubljana. Calcit Volley claimed their fourth trophy in the women’s category, whilst ACH Volley LJUBLJANA triumphed for the 13th time in the men’s competition.

The players of Calcit Volley lift the trophy after securing their fourth triumph in the women’s national cup of Slovenia
In the 2020/2021 season, due to restrictions resulting from the coronavirus pandemic, the OZS had to cancel the women’s final. Therefore, Nova KBM Branik from Maribor were defending their title from the 2019/2020 edition in Tivoli Hall. A young but promising team coached by Bruno Najdic proved themselves a tough opponent for current Slovenia’s champions Calcit Volley KAMNIK – which at the end managed to celebrate a 3-1 (25-21, 17-21, 25-22, 25-20) win and lifted their fourth Slovenian Cup trophy.

ACH Volley LJUBLJANA celebrated their 13th victory in the men’s competition
In the men’s competition, the defending champions Calcit Volley lost their semi-final clash against OK Merkur MARIBOR – who were then striving for their first cup title since 2006 in a final clash against ACH Volley. The team from Slovenia’s capital came short of both national titles in the 2020/2021 season and were strongly motivated to return the trophy to their showcase. ACH Volley defeated OK Merkur in an exciting final match by 3-2 (28-30, 20-25, 25-21, 25-17, 15-11) to secure their 13th title in the competition.
