The second day of the MEVZA U18 Championship in Portorož delivered a packed schedule featuring Round of 12 matches followed by the quarterfinal stage in both the men’s and women’s tournaments. With high-intensity matches across all courts, the semifinal line-ups are now confirmed.
Men’s competition
The men’s quarterfinals produced several competitive encounters, including a three-set battle in the opening match of the day. Austria’s Luckinger/Trummer edged past Slovenia’s Zohar/Storman 2-1 (21-10, 16-21, 15-11) to secure their place in the semifinals.
Their opponents will be fellow Austrians Blok/Reischl, who delivered a strong straight-sets win over Czech pair Jerabek/Brodsky (21-19, 21-9).
On the other side of the draw, Slovakia’s Hunady/Kalma continued their solid run with a 2-0 victory against Slovenia’s Zrnko/Hrast (22-20, 21-18), while Czech pair Novotny/Votava eliminated Croatia’s Lozancic/Vidovic in straight sets (21-17, 21-17).

Women’s competition
The women’s quarterfinals brought equally strong performances, with Hungary’s top seeds Honti-Majoros/Padar continuing their dominant form. They secured a convincing 2-0 win over Austria’s Gasser/Grusch (21-17, 21-10) to reach the semifinals.
They will face Czech duo Sebova/Mifkova, who also impressed with a straight-sets win against Austria’s Fersl-Schmid/Pap (21-12, 21-13).
In the bottom half of the draw, Hungary’s Kis/Muranyi advanced after a hard-fought three-set victory over Croatia’s Sos/Biuk (9-21, 21-15, 15-12). They will meet Czech pair Rosi/Cervinkova, who overcame Slovakia’s Graffingerova/Mackovich 2-1 (21-19, 18-21, 15-8).
